Frequently asked questions

Shipping, warranty, local delivery, custom builds, and more. Still not sure about something? Call or text us — we're happy to help.

How fast do you ship?
You'll get tracking the moment your PC is on the way, and delivery typically takes 5–7 business days in transit. Custom builds are quoted with a build timeline up front, before you pay anything.
How is my PC packed?
Every PC is double-boxed with custom foam and shipped fully insured. Heavy components like the graphics card are secured so they travel safely — and we ask that you keep all original packaging until you're sure everything's perfect.
What does “tested used components” mean?
Some components in our builds are tested used or open-box — that's how a machine like this costs hundreds less than the equivalent new prebuilt. Every component passes extended stress testing before it earns a spot, and every finished PC runs a full thermal and stability validation with its own report. We call it SC Certified.
What's covered by the 30-day warranty?
Every build carries a 30-day limited warranty covering repair or replacement of defects in our workmanship. Individual components keep their own manufacturer warranties. Full details are in our Terms of Sale.
What if it arrives damaged?
If your PC arrives dead-on-arrival or with transit damage, contact us within 5 days and we'll cover return shipping to make it right. Keep all original packaging — the carrier requires it for an insurance claim.
Do you deliver locally, and what's included in setup?
In Westchester County, delivery and setup are free. We bring the PC to you, set it up where you play, plug everything in, and make sure it's running before we leave.
Can I see it run before I buy?
Locally, yes. Westchester buyers watch their machine run real benchmarks in person at handoff. If you're not happy with what you see, you don't buy.
What payment do you take?
We take card, Apple Pay, and Google Pay, processed securely through Stripe — we never see or store your full card details. New York buyers are charged NY sales tax; everyone else pays no added tax.
Can I upgrade the PC later?
Absolutely. Our builds use standard, off-the-shelf parts, so they're easy to upgrade down the road. If you're in Westchester, we're happy to handle upgrades for you.
Do you build custom PCs?
Yes — tell us your games, budget, and target resolution, and we'll put together a build proposal with honest pricing. We'll walk you through payment and a timeline before any work begins.
Do you buy PCs or take trade-ins?
Not at this time — we focus on building and servicing PCs rather than buying or trading. If you're upgrading with us, we're glad to help you get the most out of your current machine.
Do you do repairs and cleanings?
Yes. For Westchester customers we offer graphics-card swaps, RAM and SSD upgrades, deep cleaning and thermal-paste service, and honest diagnostics. Reach out with what you need and we'll give you a quote.
Are prebuilt gaming PCs worth it?
For most people, yes — as long as it's built right. A good prebuilt saves you the parts research, the assembly, and the headache of troubleshooting a machine that won't post. The catch is that a lot of big-box prebuilts cut corners on the parts you can't see. Ours don't: every SC Builds PC is hand-assembled, cable-managed, and stress-tested, and it ships with its own thermal and stability report so you can see exactly what you're getting. Browse the current lineup on our /inventory page.
Is it safe to buy a gaming PC with tested-used or refurbished parts?
It is when every part is actually tested — which is the whole point of what we call SC Certified. Some components in our builds are tested used or open-box, and that's how a machine like this costs hundreds less than the equivalent new prebuilt. Nothing goes into a build until it passes extended stress testing, and every finished PC runs a full thermal and stability validation with its own report. On top of that, each build carries our 30-day workmanship warranty, and individual components keep their own manufacturer warranties.
How much should I spend on a gaming PC?
Spend based on the resolution and games you actually play, not on specs for their own sake. Our available inventory changes as individual systems sell, so the inventory page always shows the current prices and availability; sold builds remain visible as examples. If you're not sure where you land, tell us your games and budget and we'll point you to the right build (or spec a custom one) instead of selling you more than you need.
1080p vs 1440p — which do I need?
1080p is still the sweet spot for high frame rates and competitive play, and it's the most budget-friendly. 1440p gives you noticeably sharper detail and more screen real estate while staying easy to drive, which is why performance builds like the Bolt P2 and Vortex P1 target it. The simplest answer is to match your PC to your monitor: choose a 1440p build for a 1440p display, or a starter-class system when you're staying at 1080p and chasing frames.
